Weiss

This is a costume jewelry company with lots of sparkling, exciting pieces.

Weiss was founded in New York in 1942 by Albert Weiss, who learned design and manufacturing at Coro, the largest costume jewelry company at the time.

The company was involved in everything from design to production in its own factory.

The Weiss factory specializes in "hand-set" rhinestones, and also has partner factories in RI, France, Germany, and elsewhere to manufacture other lines.

In the 50s and 60s, the brand prospered as a glamorous costume jewelry brand using high-quality rhinestones. To meet the needs of the market, the brand sometimes commissioned Hollycraft to create designs.

Weiss prefers high quality Austrian crystal rhinestones for its jewellery. To ensure maximum sparkle, the stones are carefully prong set using traditional methods.

Carefully set with prongs to show off the quality of the rhinestones to the fullest.

The Signature Piece Christmas Tree Brooch was made in Germany in the 50's and is popular among collectors.

Weiss Christmas trees are available in a variety of colors.

At this time, aurora colored rhinestones were newly sold in Austria and were soon adopted by Weiss, who often uses them in their jewelry.

Aurora is often paired with rhinestones in similar colors.

At the same time, pieces using black diamond rhinestones (also known as German Smorky Quartz), a new color created by Weiss, became very popular. So popular with collectors, this color was adopted by other costume jewelry makers and is now a standard color for Swarovski.

In the 1960s, white opaque aurora-finished rhinestones became common in pieces.

In the 1960s, Albert Weiss retired and was succeeded by his son, Michel Weiss. However, with the demand for costume jewelry declining in the late 1960s, the business closed its doors in 1971.

Although Weiss jewelry is in no way inferior to Bogoff or Eisenberg in terms of quality and design, it has been valued less by collectors, but its value has increased over the years.

There are many fake Weiss products out there, with dull colored, poor quality rhinestones, or pieces simply set with glue, etc. However, there are also many unsigned, unstamped pieces in the line sold at major department stores, so it's important to be discerning.

It is a jewelry brand that has a lot of dazzling pieces.

Personally, I think the colorful pieces with aurora-colored rhinestones are very pretty.

The earrings and other items have simple designs but are vibrant in color and small, making them easy to handle even for those new to costume jewelry.
